The Baldr Experiment: Chapter 4 -Recon

Updated: 2 hours ago

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Baldr

A clay-style illustration of an adventurer and a dog dressed like Indiana Jones. The adventurer wears glasses, a brown fedora and a leather jacket, holding a rope at their side. The dog sits proudly beside them, wearing a matching fedora and a red bandana. Behind them rises a tall, pointed mountain glowing with warm sunset light.

Every adventure has that moment where thinking stops and doing begins—where you step from “What if… into “Let’s see.”

For me, that moment was opening Baldr as a creator for the very first time. Not to build.

Not to design.Just to look around.

Because I’m doing this on a budget of absolutely nothing, the real question wasn’t:

“What do I want to make?”

It was:

“What do I even have?”

A Quiet Recon Mission

So this first stage became pure exploration.

A gentle wandering.

Like stepping into an ancient temple with a torch in hand, not to steal anything, not to trigger anything, just to notice.

I clicked through the menu options.

Peeked into the tools.

Checked every corner of what existed right now in my zero-budget adventure.

What could these pieces become?

Could these small tools grow into the world in my head?

It felt a little like rummaging through forgotten boxes in an old warehouse.

Nothing fancy…but full of potential.

And then a familiar line drifted in:

“If you want to be a good archaeologist, you gotta get out of the library.” - Indiana Jones

And for some reason, that’s when it finally clicked.

Beginning the Journey

I needed to begin.

Stage 1 was done.

The temple had been explored.

Now it’s time to leave Indy behind…and step into a very different kind of story.

Continue the Journey
