Why Events Like GamesCom and DevCom Matter More Than Ever - And Why We're Finally Going

In an industry as fast-paced and fiercely competitive as gaming, keeping up takes more than talent and hard work. It takes visibility, connection, and the willingness to show up where the future is being shaped.

At Red Nought Limited, we’ve watched GamesCom and DevCom from afar for years—tracking the announcements, the deals, the developer spotlights, the media buzz. In 2025, we decided: it’s time to stop watching and start participating.

This year, we’re heading to Cologne for the first time by invitation of Kapil Jain from Embody VR and also Robert Ridihalgh from Microsoft —and here’s why we think events like these matter more than ever.

A Chance to Network With Real People, Not Just Profiles

We all know how hard it can be to build meaningful relationships online. Whether you're a studio looking for a publisher, a service provider aiming to support developers, or just hoping to meet your peers—face-to-face conversations still matter.

  • GamesCom brings together over 300,000 attendees across fans, developers, publishers, press, and platform holders.

  • DevCom offers a quieter, more focused setting for real B2B conversations.

For us, it’s a chance to finally meet—face-to-face—the people we’ve only connected with through emails, socials, or video calls, and to share the story of how Red Nought is working to make game development more accessible for everyone.

Showcasing Live Means So Much More

This year, we're proud to be showcasing at DevCom alongside Freya Shaw and the Hodr Engine—a project that reflects our mission to make game development more accessible and empowering for everyone.

There’s something uniquely powerful about sharing your work live. A tweet or trailer can’t match the energy of a face-to-face demo, real-time feedback, and genuine conversations with the people who matter.

  • GamesCom titles often receive massive press and influencer coverage within hours of being shown.

  • DevCom creates space for curated showcases, focused pitching, and smart matchmaking—connecting creators with publishers, investors, and collaborators.

This year, we’re not just watching—we’re part of it. And we couldn’t be more excited to share what we’ve built.

It’s About More Than Business

While we’re going with a strategy in mind, we’re also excited to simply be part of the industry’s biggest celebration. From the energy on the expo floor to the developer-first vibe at DevCom, it’s about more than deals—it’s about passion.

Whether it’s talking shop with fellow devs, getting hands-on with new tech, or attending a talk that sparks a fresh idea, we’re looking forward to immersing ourselves in the culture of gaming—not just the commerce.

Final Thoughts

This will be our first time attending GamesCom and DevCom—but we already know it won’t be our last. These events aren’t just industry gatherings—they’re where connections happen, where trends emerge, and where teams like ours can gain clarity, momentum, and opportunity.

If you’re also attending for the first time, let’s connect. And if you’re a veteran of the scene, we’re looking forward to learning from you.

See you in Cologne!
